Pickering/Ajax/Whitby Animal ServicesThe Animal Services Centre is located at 4680 Thickson Road North in the town of Whitby. It is situated one kilometre north of Taunton Road. The original building was constructed by the Ontario Humane Society in 1968 with the generous financial support of Ms. Muriel Sissons. In 1982, the municipalities of Ajax, Pickering and Whitby jointly purchased the property from the Humane Society. The facility was extensively remodelled, modernized and expanded in 1992. The centre is equipped with a modern heating, ventilation and cooling system to provide fresh, clean, temperature controlled air to the animals and to provide the healthiest possible environment.
