Shelter of Hope Animal ServicesShelter of Hope Animal Services is operated by Hamilton Township in partnership with three municipal partners. The shelter services the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope (Wards 1 and 2), Hamilton Township and Alnwick / Haldimand Township with animal pick up and adoption services. Victoria County Humane SocietyOver the years we have found homes for several unwanted and abandoned animals like Rex. He was left tied up behind a house when the owners moved away, with no forwarding address. The neighbors realized after a few days of feeding and watering him that the owners had no intention of coming back. S.H.E.B.A. Foundation ( Siberian Husky)After having spent the better part of our lives with Siberian Huskies, and coming to better understand their hierarchy, behaviors and the causes associated with their behaviors. We began to take in Sibes from Humane Societies, Shelters, and owners, who for what ever the reasons could no longer handle or care for the dogs. We spend or time assessing any behavior problems, address them and then try to find a suitable "Forever" home. As 1 Siberian turned into 2 then 4,6,... we realized the magnitude of "unwanted" dogs that are out there. In 1995, we formed the S.H.E.B.A. Foundation, a non-profit Siberian Husky Rescue. Chow Chow Fanciers of Canada, South Central OntarioWe are a small group of Chow Chow owners, including one experienced retired breeder, who strive to find "forever homes" for Chows in need. We do not actually shelter dogs; however, we act as a liaison between Chows in need of homes and people interested in adopting. Animal Guardian SocietyCountless dogs die every day in shelters, yes even our local shelters. The unfortunate dogs that find themselves at the local animal shelters have but only a few days to find a new home or else they will face euthanasia. We do not currently have a shelter of our own and rely on temporary foster homes in order to rescue dogs from their inevitable fate at the shelters.
