SSCBC Rescue is a volunteer effort by dedicated individuals. The dogs in our rescue program appear as Shelties, most of whom were surrendered by owners who have had life changes that have forced them to give up the dogs. Very few of our dogs are from animal shelters.

It is a common misconception that the BCSPCA Shuswap Shelter is a place of last resort, where we routinely put animals down. Our mandate is to re-home as many animals as possible, and in the right home for each animal, also. To do that, we hold adopt-a-thons, volunteers take the cats to the malls for viewing, others walk the dogs downtown with special SPCA "Adopt Me" jackets, with the help of community sponsors we advertise the available animals in local newspapers, and we transfer animals to other B.C. shelters or approved rescue groups where those animals might be more readily adopted. We spay/neuter all animals before they are adopted. Serving the Following Communities:
Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Malakwa, Enderby, Sorrento, Celista, Saint Ives, Anglemont, Scotch Creek, Magna Bay, Lea Creek, Squilax, Tappen, Eagle Bay, Blind Bay, Sunnybrae, Mara, & Canoe

The Simcoe & District Humane Society, chartered in January, 1953, has worked hard at aiding animals in distress since the 1950's, The Foster Care Program is an integral part of the Society, as it does not have a shelter as of yet, but 2004 was a great stepping-stone in this endeavour. As the number of stray, sick and injured animals has grown, so has the community support and the Society now has a goal to build a shelter in the next couple of years.

We are a few dedicated individuals who try to keep track of small animals needing help in Quebec and the rest of Canada. We try to rescue animals from larger shelters to prevent euthanasia. We also accept animals from those who do their best to avoid having to use shelters, considering them as a last resort, without resorting to the cruelty of abandonment and lack of consideration of the conditions in the pet's next home

Smitty's Shih Tzu Rescue is a group of dog-minded individuals.. We help one dog at a time. It is in honour of Smitty, a one year old abused Shih Tzu, that we named the rescue. Smitty is now a friendly, outgoing six year old who loves to do agility with his mom. Our goal is to turn unwanted, abused or neglected Shih Tzu and other small breeds, into wanted, loved companion dogs
