For Cat's Sake! Cat & Kitten Rescue & Adoption

For Cat's Sake! Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned cats and kittens. We do not have a physical shelter, but rather a network of caring, qualified foster homes. We provide our cats with veterinary care, spays and neuters, loving foster homes and finally adopt them into permanent homes. To date we have rescued over 1,200 cats and kittens. Our mission further includes initiatives that help educate the public about pet over-population, spaying and neutering, the disadvantages of declawing kittens and cats, how to live a long and healthy life with your feline friend, and dealing with behavioral and other issues.

Greenfield/Hancock County Animal Control

We are a city and county funded shelter that is dedicated to public safety and animal rescue. We continue to work to control the animal population within our area, by requiring all animals adopted from our facility be spay or neutered. With this program we hope to reduce the rate of euthanasia. Our staff is always available to educate the public about the health and welfare issues of animals, and enforce cruelty and neglect laws as well as ordinances within our city and county. We also work hard to reunite lost and stray pets with their owners and promote new and responsible pet ownership. If you lose your pet please make every effort to find them. Visit your local Animal Control Shelter and all surrounding shelters, post signs, posters with veterinarians and stores, as well as ads in the newspapers. Remember THEY depend on You.

Hancock County Humane Society

The Hancock County Humane Society is a no-kill*, non-profit animal shelter. This shelter has been in existance for many years and has always been staffed entirely by volunteers and funded entirely on donations from the local community. It is our goal to find permanent safe and loving homes for the pets in our care. We would also like to promote community education and awareness. It cannot be stressed enough the importance of early spay/neuter of a pet. We simply cannot keep up with the rate of over-population in cats and dogs on our own and must have the support of the entire community if we are ever to eliminate this problem. Additionally, we would like to stress the importance of a pet wearing I.D.. This can be in the form of a collar with a tag, a microchip implanted by your veterinarian or both. A lost pet is most likely to be returned to its home if it is wearing I.D.. Please note that we are NOT part of the county Animal Care and Control Shelter but are a completely separate shelter. *No-kill meaning healthy pets with good temperaments are kept until adopted no matter how many years it may take. We do first attempt to treat unhealthy pets whenever possible.
