Vancouver Animal Control Shelter & ServicesIn 2004, Vancouver's Animal Shelter rescued 1,400 lost, abandoned or abused dogs. Over 400 dogs received a free ride home to their owners. Another 700 dogs were picked up by their owners at the shelter. Vancouver City PoundWe are a city-run, no-kill dog shelter with an active volunteer and fostering program. We spay/neuter all animals before they leave and always have an assortment of great dogs available for adoption. The volunteers often give the dogs blankets at night, so donations of snuggles and anything else that will make the dogs happy are always appreciated. Vancouver's municipally run shelter is a pro-adoption shelter. Dogs that are adoptable or treatable are not put down.
