The Afghan Hound Club of Canada operates a volunteer based rescue program. This program is primarily designed to assist hounds that are in dire need.
We also assist in re-homing hounds whose owners are unable to continue providing care. We would appreciate your assistance with any Afghan Hounds in need of rescue. Please contact our Rescue Committee Chairperson.

The Alberta Ferret Society, a non-profit organization, was formed in May 1997 to promote the health and well being of ferrets. Its goal are to educate ferret owners and those considering the ferret as a pet, to raise public awareness about these often misunderstood pets and to provide shelter, care and necessary rehabilitation for unwanted, abused and abandoned ferrets and finally, to find adoptive homes for them.

The advantages of adopting from Animal Services:
The animals are checked by a veterinarian for obvious health and behavioral problems.
Volunteers work with the animals to keep them happy and socialized.
Not only are you giving a home to a healthy, loving animal, but the adoption fee is a great value that includes many extras.

The Calgary Humane Society is a progressive organization with a rich history of grass roots work on behalf of animals in our community. Founded in 1922, with just a single inspector, several committed volunteers and without a shelter, we have definitely come a long way. Calgary now has one of the lowest euthanasia rates in Canada, a full service veterinary clinic for Shelter animals, cutting edge educational programs, an extensive post-adoption support system, approximately 300 dedicated volunteers, a wildlife referral network and many ongoing partnerships with vets, the City of Calgary and other animal welfare organizations.

FRES is a non-profit organization. Our mission is to enrich the lives of ferrets in our community through education, collaboration, communication, rehabilitation and rescue.
All ferrets surrendered to FRES are fostered and cared for by members of our Society. While our foster families generously provide these ferrets with love, FRES provides all necessary supplies and medical care. No ferret is ever, or will ever, be turned away for any reason, and FRES will care for them until adoptive homes can be found through our three step adoption process. To date, FRES volunteers have been very successful with the rehabilitation of sick, injured, untrained, and fearful ferrets.

We discovered there was greyhound racing at a track in Alberta, Canada. The greyhounds at this track were racing until their retirement and then the owners would find a home for them. That takes alot of work and some of the greyhounds waited at the track for a long time before a home was found. There were hundreds of adoption groups in the United States and Canada helping find homes for retired racing greyhounds that race in the USA but no one was helping Calida find homes for their Greyhounds. We decided to help and the Northwest Canadian Greyhound League was conceived.
