WI-NIAD Small Scale Reptile Rescue (formerly Wisconsin National Iguana Awareness Day)

Welcome to the homepage for WI-NIAD Small Scale Reptile Rescue (formerly Wisconsin National Iguana Awareness Day). NIAD was formed to help educate people on what owning an iguana really entails. Since the begining of the rescue when we were iguana only to now, where we take in everything we can, we have been dedicated to two things. Education of proper captive care of reptiles and conservation of reptiles in the wild. If you have questions you can email me directly or you can check out the links that I have provided. You can also find out about Wisconsin Area Happenings that relate to reptiles. As for on a state level we can help you find a good pet store or supply store. We can also offer free educational seminars about iguanas. We also always have many reptiles available for adoption. We work closely with all the state animal control agencies and humane societies to ensure proper care and placement for reptiles that end up in their hands. We are also in the process of becoming a 501-C non-profit agency.

Philosophy Statement SHELTER The base of operations of the Tri-County Humane Society is our shelter. It is there that we give temporary care to animals who for on various reasons are homeless. We value: Clean, cheerful, healthy, and inviting atmosphere for both animals and people, Our professional and compassionate staff who provide daily care for the animals at the shelter and insure a successful adoption program, and Our volunteers who, in assisting the staff in daily animal care, willingly take on both pleasant and unpleasant tasks. EDUCATION Through our educational programs, we teach humane and well-informed animal care. We strive to: Inform people of the problem of pet overpopulation and the multiple benefits of spaying and neutering their pets, Help pet owners to understand total animal care, including how to meet their pets= nutritional, behavioral, and social needs, Emphasize a sense of responsibility and the realization that pet ownership involves a lifelong commitment, and Create an awareness of our mission in the community at large.
