Whispering Willows RescueDue to the growing amount of dog and cat rescues, especially breed specific rescues in our area, we have decided to focus primarily on small animals, such as ferrets, rats, gerbils, hamsters, Chinchillas, etc. We, also, accept some reptiles, such as small lizards. We do not accept large snakes. All size birds are welcome. WI-NIAD Small Scale Reptile Rescue (formerly Wisconsin National Iguana Awareness Day)Welcome to the homepage for WI-NIAD Small Scale Reptile Rescue (formerly Wisconsin National Iguana Awareness Day). NIAD was formed to help educate people on what owning an iguana really entails. Since the begining of the rescue when we were iguana only to now, where we take in everything we can, we have been dedicated to two things. Education of proper captive care of reptiles and conservation of reptiles in the wild. If you have questions you can email me directly or you can check out the links that I have provided. You can also find out about Wisconsin Area Happenings that relate to reptiles. As for on a state level we can help you find a good pet store or supply store. We can also offer free educational seminars about iguanas. We also always have many reptiles available for adoption. We work closely with all the state animal control agencies and humane societies to ensure proper care and placement for reptiles that end up in their hands. Wildlife Rescue, IncWildlife Rescue, Inc.(WRI), founded in 1974 in Palo Alto, California, began with a small group of volunteers dedicated to raising and returning to the wild injured and orphaned local wildlife. Today we have over 160 professionally trained volunteers and staff working 3 shifts per day 365 days a year. More than 2200 birds, mammals, and reptiles from our surrounding communities come through our doors needing help each year. We are proud that we release back to the wild a very high percentage of these animals who could not have survived without our intervention. Additional trained volunteers care for animals in their homes, answer phones to assist local residents with wildlife questions, and speak to groups of children about rescuing wildlife.
