The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) believes that animals, as living creatures, have value beyond economic measurement, and are entitled to legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection. The spcaLA's mission is to act as an advocate on behalf of animals and as an enforcer of their rights; to provide for the well-being of the animals of Southern California who are abandoned, injured, subjected to unfair or cruel treatment, or otherwise in need; to cultivate in the people of our community an awareness of the animals whose world we share; to promote a bond of mutual assistance between people and animals; and to instill respect for and appreciation of all living things.

Luna’s House, Inc. is a 501(c)3-pending nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of animals and their people. Luna’s House is comprised of a networkPresently, Luna’s House works with small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, and birds, as well as with cats. In the future, we will also work with dogs and perhaps even pot-bellied pigs! Because we are currently a rather small group, we cannot accommodate direct surrenders from animal guardians. Instead, we are working with other local groups and shelters to take in animals that may otherwise not get the second chance at a happy home they so deserve.

We are an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in February, 1997, directed by concerned hobbyists and professionals, who saw a need to reach out to the public and improve the conditions under which captive chelonians are kept and try to protect local species and their habitats. We are a conservation group that also does adoptions as a public service.
We also offer an adoptions program to help displaced or unwanted pet turtles and tortoise find new, loving homes. We are licensed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to find new homes for unwanted and/or unreleasable pet native turtles. The adoptions program is funded strictly by donations. We do not receive any grants or reimbursement from DNR or the government.

Unfortunately, pregnant and Mother cats are abandoned on streets and at shelters every day. Compounding a Mother cat’s own fear and confusion at losing her home and entering a strange and scary place is her fear for her children.
That’s where MommyCat comes in. We rescue pregnant and Mother cats with kittens from shelters, their health is checked by one of our network veterinarians, we bring them into a warm and safe environment, we love them, feed them premium kitten food, and then when the babies are nine weeks old we put them all into adoption. They are all spayed and neutered, in order to stop the cycle of unwanted cats, and they are all injected with a pet retrieval microchip to insure they will never be homeless again.
