Red Door Animal Shelter is a no-kill shelter committed to helping animals in need. Its primary focus is on the rescue, shelter and adoption of cats, dogs and rabbits—the three most popular pets in the United States.
Red Door provides a cageless environment for its animals, giving them the closest-to-a-home experience that a shelter can provide. While our emphasis is on re-homing the animals through resourceful adoption programs, the shelter does offer permanent residence for those few animals not placed in homes.
Adoption hours: Monday through Thursday, 1-5pm; Friday, Saturday & Sunday 12-4 p.m. Please call for weeknight hours. Please arrive one hour ahead of closing time. Appointments are highly recommended. All rabbit and dog adoptions are done by appointment only. Dogs available for adoption are not located at our shelter address. The first step is to fill out an adoption application.

The Humane Society of Central Illinois (HSCI) is committed to the prevention of cruelty, abuse and neglect of animals through its adoption center, cruelty investigations, spay/neuter assistance programs, and humane awareness.
A not-for-profit animal welfare organization, HSCI does not receive federal, state or local tax dollars. In addition to nominal membership and adoption fees, HSCI relies heavily on donations from individuals, foundations, and local businesses who also have a commitment to animal welfare.

In 1959, a caring group of volunteers gathered to share a common
and deeply-held concern: a desire to help the thousands of unwanted,
abandoned and mistreated animals of this community.
Their dedication to the welfare of animals led to the creation of the Belleville Area Humane Society.
BAHS depends almost entirely upon the intrest and support of
concerned citizens through donations and membership in the
organization. A Board of Directors is charged with governance of the
organization, including management of policies, finances, physical
plant, operations, personnel, fundraising events, media and public
relations, public outreach activities and all other matters that relate to its purpose and activities.
The main activities of the shelter are carried out by empolyees
(with additional assistance provided by volunteers) under the direction of a manager.
BAHS is a non-profit organization. It's support is derived primarily
from membership fees, donations, bequests, adoption fees and
fundraising activities. Some operating funds are recieved through billed
services to St. Clair Township and the city of Belleville. Grant funds may
also contribute to BAHS operations.
