Animal Awareness Society

The Animal Awareness Society (TAAS) is dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted and feral cats in the area through spaying and neutering. We go door to door speaking to people and passing out fliers in an attempt to educate the citizens of the Triad about local animal laws, animal care, the benefits of spaying and neutering and the problems that arise from not spaying and neutering. The main goal of the Society is to greatly reduce the number of unwanted cats, find homes for adoptable cats, and find caretakers for feral colonies after they have been spayed or neutered. TAAS plans to accomplish this goal by targeting heavy cat populated areas and concentrating our education efforts there.

Animal Education and Rescue (NFP)

Animal Education and Rescue, NFP is an Illinois not for profit organization. We are a 501 (c) 3 organization. 3. The purpose of the foundation is to help countless numbers of animals and people. 1. We speak to schools, civic organizations, and clubs about responsible pet ownership. This will include the reasons for spaying and neutering, general care, and the do's and don'ts of owning a pet. We teach pet owners about how animals communicate with each other and with humans. We have designed special programs to introduce animals to children through animal body language sessions and pet education. 2. We provide pet therapy programs. Volunteers and their pets will visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools for the disabled and hospitals. (Studies have proven that overall mental and physical health of humans is improved when they are exposed to animals.) 3. We are a resource for other animal related non-profit groups. During our public speaking and through our office we will provide a list of animal shelters, foster care foundations and other animal related organizations. 4. We assist people in placing abandoned, abused and surrendered pets of all kinds. Volunteer for Animal Education and Rescue!

Animal Matters

Animal Matters is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 1998 with the goal of educating the general public on the use and abuse of animals. We focus on the inherent link between what we eat, wear and use to the well-being of our animal friends, our health and our environment. We attempt to achieve this goal by producing and distributing educational materials (including Animal Matters Online) to people who have never had the chance to learn of the cruelty to which animals are subjected and how this affects them and their society. WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY FOR PETS. WE NOW ACT ONLY AS A REOSOURCE FOR HOMELESS ANIMALS -- MATCHING THEM TO LOVING HOMES.
