Animal Control is an Environmental Health Program of the Community Services Department designed to promote Public Health & Safety through education, enforcement, and legislation. The major objectives of Animal Control are to protect the public from diseases such as rabies that can be transmitted from animals to humans, to reduce the number of traffic emergencies caused by uncontrolled animals, to abate nuisances and annoyance to citizens caused by animals, to reunite pets with owners, to promote the adoption of unwanted or stray animals housed at the Citys animal shelter, and to operate the Citys animal shelter in a humane and sanitary manner.

We are a division of the City of Fort Worth Public Health Department operating a full service animal control and sheltering agency. We handle enforcement of municipal codes relating to animals and try to solve neighborhood problems caused by animals or their owners. Our division handles over 23,000 animals each year. Many are wonderful pets looking for new, forever homes.

Sycamore Street Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue organization that began in the early 1990s with the rescue of feral cats on Sycamore Street. Since then, they have rescued dozens of cats, dogs, and one rabbit.
