This society serves the community, both animals and people, primarily by:
providing quality care and adoption services for animals in need,
offering educational programs to encourage the awareness, understanding and practice of humane principles, and
handling questions and complaints regarding animal care and behavior, including alleged cruelty, and neglect cases.
Philosophy Statement
SHELTER
The base of operations of the Tri-County Humane Society is our shelter. It is there that we give temporary care to animals who for on various reasons are homeless.
We value:
Clean, cheerful, healthy, and inviting atmosphere for both animals and people,
Our professional and compassionate staff who provide daily care for the animals at the shelter and insure a successful adoption program, and
Our volunteers who, in assisting the staff in daily animal care, willingly take on both pleasant and unpleasant tasks.
EDUCATION
Through our educational programs, we teach humane and well-informed animal care.
We strive to:
Inform people of the problem of pet overpopulation and the multiple benefits of spaying and neutering their pets,
Help pet owners to understand total animal care, including how to meet their pets= nutritional, behavioral, and social needs,
Emphasize a sense of responsibility and the realization that pet ownership involves a lifelong commitment, and
Create an awareness of our mission in the community at large.
COMMUNITY SERVICES
The Tri-County Humane Society recognizes its membership in and obligations to the surrounding community.
We strive to:
Provide professional and helpful information regarding a variety of animal concerns,
Respond to alleged cruelty and neglect reports with appropriate referrals,
Reach out into the community through staff and volunteer involvement programs and activities, and
Provide humane and appropriate care for impounded animals.

T.H.A.R. is a new organization starting in 2004 by Jamie Peterson. In our area we have no county or regional animal control and very few city organizations, so I have, with help from many, started this group. My goal is to help rehabilitate and place displaced, neglected or abused animals of all sizes from rodentia to equine and all in between.

Twisted Oaks Animal Rescue, the Exotic Division of the Animal Protection Coalition, is a 501(c)3 not for profit Organization. It is our mission to provide a temporary rest stop for unwanted, abused or neglected animals. Although we try to never turn away an animal in need, our main areas of focus are Guinea Pigs, goats, pigs, llamas, horses, sheep and fowl. We are a private home in Southwestern Michigan, and we provide our own time and resources for shelter, quality food, training and rehabilitation to care for animals in need of a safe haven. We operate soley on donations, and any funds received go towards food, medical needs, bedding, and anything else involved in animal care.
Our goal is to end the cycle of abuse and neglect which is all to often found with "livestock". We strive to find PERMANENT placement where these animals will be treated like members of the family, are loved & nurtured for the duration of their lives. If you have room in your heart and your home, please consider adopting or sponsoring an animal who needs a "second chance".
