Twisted Oaks Animal Rescue, the Exotic Division of the Animal Protection Coalition, is a 501(c)3 not for profit Organization. It is our mission to provide a temporary rest stop for unwanted, abused or neglected animals. Although we try to never turn away an animal in need, our main areas of focus are Guinea Pigs, goats, pigs, llamas, horses, sheep and fowl. We are a private home in Southwestern Michigan, and we provide our own time and resources for shelter, quality food, training and rehabilitation to care for animals in need of a safe haven. We operate soley on donations, and any funds received go towards food, medical needs, bedding, and anything else involved in animal care.
Our goal is to end the cycle of abuse and neglect which is all to often found with "livestock". We strive to find PERMANENT placement where these animals will be treated like members of the family, are loved & nurtured for the duration of their lives. If you have room in your heart and your home, please consider adopting or sponsoring an animal who needs a "second chance".

We take in the most at-risk horses for rest, rehabilitation, retraining, and eventual re-homing. We do not do high volume; instead we take in the horses nobody else will accept: ill, older, less trained, and/or in need of rehab.
We do not turn horses away. We also do not turn suffering horses away. If an owner can't affort treatment or euthanasia, we will take the horse and at our expense rehab it. If our vet deems the horse is suffering and cannot be cured, we will have him/her humanely put down locally. We do NOT send any horse to auction, broker, or slaughter killpen.
Horses are housed in foster homes throughout the local area.
We also do events that help the horses community such as clinics and presentations. We also do educational presentations. We feel if owners have good support & education, the horses will benefit.
We do all breeds of horses, but sorry we are not set up for other kinds of farm animals.
We are a Non Profit horse charity, 501c3 pending. Your donation may be tax deductible. We accept donations of most anything: hay, feed, grain, vet services, medicine, equipment, and actual horses. The horses also need cash donations towards the medical expenses.
We feature regular visits from our vet Dr Moore at Unionville Equine in Oxford PA.

Nowata Animal Shelter is a small non-profit shelter located in Nowata, Oklahoma. The shelter is ran by Holly Ridenhour Animal Control. The shelter has 8 inside/outside runs and 4 small inside runs. We are always full as we are the only shelter for the entire Nowata County. It is sad that we must put down one amimal only to make room for another. We are going to expand and have 20 some runs this summer, It will help us keep and save more lifes. We do adopted out as many as we can, We have them in the paper as well as the petfinder site. We are running to Tulsa to Spay Okla Inc, once a month to help low income families get pets fixed.
We only have 9 cat cages and are hoping the new building will have enough room to have a catroom. We are over run with cats and plan to start a barn cat program soon.

TALR is a no-kill sanctuary primarily for unwanted "pet" birds, and "farm" animals. We are trying to grow to meet the needs of a rural region where animal compassion is considered a joke, especially to "farm" animals and wildlife.
