Last Chance Ranch is a non-profit, all volunteer Equine Rescue located in Southeast Pennsylvania. LCR rescues the old, young, injured, neglected, malnourished, abused, and forgotten. We accept all breeds: horses, ponies, drafts, donkeys & mules. We make every effort to rehabilitate these unfortunate animals and then place them in carefully screened custodial homes.

Last Chance Ranch (LCR) rescues equines, including unwanted and mistreated horses. LCR is a volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue supported by fundraisers and donations. LCR is sometimes given horses from owners who can no longer keep their equestrian friend. But LCR primarily rescues horses by purchasing them from butchers at auctions—horses that we know for a fact would be put to death.

At L&FHRF, we strive to find nurturing homes for every horse, pony, mule or donkey that comes into contact with us. That is why we look to like-minded individuals for financial assistance to continue our rescue efforts and also rehabilitate healthy horses for a second chance at leading productive lives. It is only through private donations, foster care programs, community outreach and volunteered time that we are able to continue these goals.

The PSPCA is a “low kill shelter. Each week all PSPCA satellite shelters transfer orphaned animals to our Philadelphia Headquarters where the demand is greater. We also work closely with no-kill shelters in our area and breed placement orginizations. This has resulted in a greatly reduced euthanasia rate, however animals still may need to be euthanized should the numbers surrendered outstrip our ability to adopt out and transfer to other shelters. Our transfer program allows each branch shelter the opportunity to offer more personal care for the many orphaned, sick and injured animals we receive. The PSPCA makes every effort to find homes for animals that are healthy and free of behavior problems. Many of the sick and injured animals we receive are provided with medical care (and/or behavioral treatment) and rehabilitated. Animals are euthanized if they are to sick to rehabilitate or to aggressive to adopt into a new home.

The Luzerne County SPCA is funded entirely by your kindness and generosity. We are not a government agency of any kind; aside from an occasional state/county grant, we are not tax-dollar supported. We are a private non-profit(5013c)organization which was founded 50 years ago by concerned citizens who saw the need to protect those that cannot protect themselves
