FieldHaven Feline Rescue was established in 2003 to provide a safe haven for rescued cats and kittens while awaiting adoption. FieldHaven is located on a private ranch owned by Preston and Joy Smith in rural Lincoln, providing a backdrop of grassy irrigated horse pastures, climate-controlled barns, gardens and a variety of animal-loving humans always on hand. The result is very well adapted kitties! We’re very small - a rescue “start-up - but our goals are big; to socialize rescued cats and kittens and find them well-matched homes while promoting the joys of pet ownership. And, of course, we passionately promote spaying and neutering.

The career of a racehorse is as hard and fast as the competitions they sprint in.
On an early spring morning in 1998 Cobra Farm owner Gary Biszantz met Thoroughbred retirement advocate Priscilla Clark at the gate of an abandoned horse farm situated in the mountain valley of Tehachapi, California. He had a dream to create a sanctuary for retiring racehorses in the memory of his late father, Harry, who was also an ardent horseman. She had endured many years of caring for unwanted Thoroughbreds at her own small, overburdened farm. The vacant farm before them would need much work, but together they shared a vision of what could be.
When the farm was purchased, enthusiastic help arrived from every corner of the racing world. New barns, fences and training facilities were built, and today the Harry A. Biszantz Memorial Center for Thoroughbred Retirement has grown to care for a constant population of 80 horses in rehabilitation, retraining, or comfortable retirement. Now known simply as Tranquility Farm, this special place of spacious barns and pastures is dedicated solely to the welfare of the Thoroughbred horse, where retiring runners enjoy the peace and appreciation they deserve, and where an unwanted broodmare or yearling can find shelter while awaiting a new life in an adoptive home.

Since opening its doors in 1991, the mission of Redwings Horse Sanctuary has been to rescue abused and neglected horses and burros which have often been abused and neglected, or on their way to slaughter. Redwings then brings the animals to its 160-acre facility in Lockwood, California, where the largely volunteer staff nurses them back to health. Many of these equines live the remainder of their lives at Redwings, while some live at the facilities of caring community members. In addition to its rescue efforts, Redwings offers a number of community education programs designed to help horse and burro owners learn to care for and nurture their animals.
