Our mission is to provide a serene safe life to those who were unwanted or abused. We are not looking to adopt out any of these animals, we are strictly looking out for their welfare. Neglect and abuse have run rampant across the country recently and there needs to be somewhere that these type of animals can go to live in peace. We provide that peace.
All our cats have been spayed or neutered so we can control our cat population. Any cat that comes here gets fixed. that is a big priority for us

Nowata Animal Shelter is a small non-profit shelter located in Nowata, Oklahoma. The shelter is ran by Holly Ridenhour Animal Control. The shelter has 8 inside/outside runs and 4 small inside runs. We are always full as we are the only shelter for the entire Nowata County. It is sad that we must put down one amimal only to make room for another. We are going to expand and have 20 some runs this summer, It will help us keep and save more lifes. We do adopted out as many as we can, We have them in the paper as well as the petfinder site. We are running to Tulsa to Spay Okla Inc, once a month to help low income families get pets fixed.
We only have 9 cat cages and are hoping the new building will have enough room to have a catroom. We are over run with cats and plan to start a barn cat program soon.

At the Oasis Ranch it is our goal to operate a non-kill sanctuary for the care, treatment and maintenance of neglected, abused, injured, sick, afflicted and disabled animals, particularily horses and cats. PLEASE NOTE - Unfortunately we are not equipped to handle dogs and cannot assist in the rescue or fostering of dogs of any size.
We will rehabilitate and place for adoption those animals that have re-established trust in being handled by people through the loving, nurturing and caring atmosphere at the ranch.
For those cats and horses that cannot be rehabilitated, the Oasis ranch will provide a safe and comfortable haven with care given to those animals for the remainder of their natural lives.
We place great emphasis, as part of our mission, on educating the public about the importance of the humane treatment of animals through the production and distribution of materials through various media in order to communicate and create public awareness

Every humane organization dreams of the day when cruelty to animals can be reduced to the point of elimination and the killing of homeless animals will have ended. The Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Ohio SPCA) formerly known as the Ohio Humane Education Association (OHEA) was formed in 1983 to help bring this dream to reality. The Ohio SPCA has two main goals as its purpose. One, to extend to present and future generations humane education, which will lead to an awareness of the need for people to be responsible and kind stewards over animals. Second, to intercede on behalf of animals and bring about change to situations and practices in which cruelty, neglect, or unnecessary suffering exists.
