Pet Adoption Services IncPet Adoption Services, Inc. is a non-profit all breed cat and dog rescue organization in New Orleans. Supported by over 20 volunteer members, Pet Adoption Services was founded in 1996, although some of our members have been involved in rescue for as long as 20 years. Our mission is to secure loving permanent homes for homeless, abandoned or abused cats and dogs of all breeds. While awaiting adoption, our animals live in the homes of one of our foster parents. During this time the animals receive any necessary veterinary care, including but not limited to, vaccinations, spaying or neutering and perhaps heartworm treatment. Our experienced foster parents continually assess each pet's personality and temperament allowing us to place adoptable cats and dogs in just the right permanent home. Pet Adoption Services participates in adoption days during which time, potential adopters get the opportunity to meet and spend time with the animals in a "real life" situation. Pet Adoption Services holds several fundraisers throughout the calendar year so that we can continue to meet the needs of homeless animals. Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc.- West Shore ShelterFounded in 1911, the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc. is dedicated to helping people and pets increase their quality of life. We operate two shelters, one on the East Shore and one on the West Shore of the Susquehanna River. Together, the two facilities service Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, and northwestern York Counties of Pennsylvania. Most of the animals received each year at our two locations are cats and dogs; however, the Humane Society accepts and cares for all types of animals, contacting third party agencies for assistance when necessary. The Humane Society relies entirely on support from individuals, businesses, corporations, and foundations to provide funding for our people and pets programs. As a private, non-profit organization, we do not receive any direct government grants or funding from federal, state, or county government (except for services rendered).
