Shiawassee Humane SocietyThe Shiawassee Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, that started in 1954. We moved to the current location at 2752 W. Bennington Rd. In the late 1970's. We are a low kill facility, by this we mean that we only euthanize terminally ill animals that have no quality of life left, and those who do not pass our temperment evaluations, and who pose a threat to the general public. Our facility houses up to 900 cats and dogs each year. Since we can only house so many animals at one time, we have "waiting" lists to bring your animals in.2752 W. Petsafe Rescue AllianceOur main goal is to find permanent, loving homes for the cats and dogs who are sick, injured, abandoned or unwanted and at risk of being euthanized. Each animal is seen by one of our veterinarians, updated on all vaccines, spayed or neutered, tested for diseases and given a health certificate. Dogs are also put on Heartworm and Flea preventative. Our animals are placed in a loving foster home until a good, permanent home for them can be found. Each pet receives daily one-on-one care and attention while in foster care. We work on training and socialization skills to help each pet be the best they can be.
