ferret lover turned activist/enthusiast. We are fairly new to the process, as we began odopting in early 1999. To date more than 60 ferrets have come to find a home at Wayward Weasels. Some of them harbored medical conditions requiring extensive (and expensive) treatment, but are all happy and healthy now. My goal is to make it known to all that ferrets shouldn't be locked away in cages or treated like Christmas toys

Founded in 1911, the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, Inc. is dedicated to helping people and pets increase their quality of life. We operate two shelters, one on the East Shore and one on the West Shore of the Susquehanna River. Together, the two facilities service Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, and northwestern York Counties of Pennsylvania. Most of the animals received each year at our two locations are cats and dogs; however, the Humane Society accepts and cares for all types of animals, contacting third party agencies for assistance when necessary.

Motor City Ferrets, formally established in April 2000, is a private, no-kill shelter for homeless ferrets. We operate in our home in Hazel Park. Our “staff” (ha) consists of two busy working people, Nanci & Alex. We can tend to up to 60 ferrets at one time, but our most comfortable level is perhaps 35 or less, depending on how many groups/individuals make up the overall number. We moved into our first home in December 2003 and are in the midst of remodeling...with our schedules we plan to be in the midst of the remodeling for some months/years/decades/eons to come (oh the frustration – HA)! We are a private rescue and therefore receive no formal funding from state agencies or animal welfare organizations. We fund the rescue out of our personal incomes and offset some of the costs with adoption fees, boarding fees, the sale of ferret supplies and generous donations.

PKA is a small, private, family owned, non-profit, rescue ran out of kind, well educated, volunteers homes. All the animals in PKA's care are treated with only the best medical attention, nutrition, shelter, training, and love.
Our mission here at Peaceful Kingdom Adoptions is to rescue animals in need, train them to be ultimate pets in every way while maintaining them at top health, and to re-home them into their perfect forever loving homes. If we have no room for an animal we will still try and find their forever loving home until it is found. Each and every animals life is important to us no matter who the animal is or where it is. We will do everything we can to save every single animal in need.
