ATRA is a volunteer operated nonprofit organization dedicated to new beginnings for displaced Airedale Terriers. We try to place every dog possible and carefully screen all incoming dogs, consulting experts when necessary, to identify those with socially unacceptable behavior. Of these, we work with the ones who can benefit from training and re-home only those we know can be placed safely. We provide spay and neuter services and essential vet care to place them with new carefully matched permanent adoptive homes. We provide public education through handouts, public education, individual counseling, our website, canine events, community referrals, and our monthly newsletter.

We are a small rescue group operating in southeastern Michigan. We rescue deathrow or soon-to-be class B research dogs and cats from pounds and shelters and place them in loving homes. We have no paid positions and we mainly have to pay out of our own pockets for animal care.

ATRA also assists Deb Jones of Wyoming by taking applications for Wyoming and forwarding them to her.
If you are interested in adopting and do not live in one of these states, we can accept your application but will forward it to the rescue volunteer/organization for your state. We need to work with your rescue volunteer/organization to process your application and coordinate a possible adoption.

Critters with Paws and Claws Rescue was started due to my love of animals. I have worked in Veterinary medicine for 14 plus years and have housed and placed many dogs and cats. I have worked with special needs and hard to place dogs as well as hand raising the occasional orphan. I know there is never a way to save them all but I help where I can. My own animals help with the socialization and learning a pets personality. Everyone learns to get along. I love what I do and the support of others and the wonderful new homes I have found make it all worth while.
