Supplies for your new Dog
We are Illinois Heartbandits chapter of Heart Bandits American Eskimo Dog Rescue. We cover Illinois, Indiana, and parts of Kentucky along with our sister chapter Snowbird Eskie Rescue. Heart Bandits Inc. is a national not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing American Eskimo dogs or "Eskies". Our dogs come from owner surrenders, shelters, humane societies, and other all breed rescue groups. We work closely with other Heart Bandits chapters nationwide. We also work with animal control, shelters and humane societies in our area. All of our work is voluntary. Our reward comes from the love and affection given to us by our dogs, and the joy of seeing them sent off to deserving families. Unfortunately that doesn't pay the bills for dog food, medicines, vet care, transportation, etc. Funding is always a problem. Our expenses are only partially offset by our adoption fees. Therefore any donations however small are always appreciated. For further information email: capnray@eskieranch.org.

Itty Bitty Pound Babies is a small rescue focused on the very young, high needs animals that end up in pounds. We rely on volunteers and foster homes to provide low disease-exposure environments and high quality nursing care for the littlest of the unwanteds. We are also commited to helping find homes for dogs and cats in pounds, and those animals that have been found homeless but are being cared for by individuals instead of immediately being taken to the pound. We are devoted to spay/neuter as the solution to most of the suffering companion animals endure.
Please send an email requesting a pre-application, fill out the pre-app, and return it as soon as you can. If the animal you are interested in is still available, we will request you sign a contract and pay an adoption fee for the animal. All animals must be spayed and neutered by six months of age. If you are adopting an adult animal, it must be altered before you can take it home. Most animals are current with shots and wormings and are treated with frontline, and all qualify for a month of free shelter insurance.

The Kankakee County Animal Foundation is a Voluntary Not For Profit Organization which consists of a Board of Directors, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The KCAF is located in Kankakee County Illinois. The organization's focus is Fostering, Adoptions, Emphasizing Spay/Neuter and Responsible Pet Ownership Education. The organization's volunteer foster homes are important to the success of the adoption process. Local shelters are also part of this process. Local veterinarians are used to provide necessary animal wellness which includes all vacinations, lab tests, etc. As part of the KCAF's project, through donations, they provide the monetary resources to enable the local veterinarians to provide low cost spay/neuter. Additionally, our volunteers strive to educate the public about responsible pet ownership. They call upon friends, teachers, scout leaders, parents, etc., for help. Most of the reasons that animals end up in animal control are preventable by teaching children animal safety and pet care. Many of the problems of today can be decreased as these children grow up and become responsible pet owners. The Foundation has asked educators to add this information to their units on safety, biology, etc., urging scout leaders to encourage children to work toward badges related to these subjects. Parents need to set the good example by teaching their children safe, responsible pet care at home. KCAF provides information on related educational materials. KCAF is always looking for volunteers to assist in providing the necessary tasks to make the animals safe and healthy.

I saw a real need for pet rescue in the Centralia area. So many animals are euthanized each year in the Centralia Shelter that I decided to get out there and help the Humane Society out. I started out fostering for the Centralia Humane Society, but I wanted to do more. My main focus is on pulling cats and dogs from the city shelter, but I do take strays in off the street from time to time.
