Orphan Pet Oasis is a NON-KILL facility and animal sanctuary. Currently, we have several dozen animals that have been with us for over 8 years. We welcome them spending the rest of their precious lives with us. We have an “Outreach Program that‘s mission is to create an awareness of the importance of Neutering and or Spaying of pets and responsible pet ownership. There are many abandoned, abused, and neglected pets due to an over population, that we must react immediately. Orphan Pet Oasis crusade is becoming stronger with the support and compassion of animal lovers throughout the country that have a true understanding of what we do.

Orphans of the Storm has spent most of a century caring for stray, abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats from northeast Illinois. Our history is a colorful one, starting with famous dancer and fashion trendsetter Irene Castle, continuing through the dedication and commitment of animal welfare activist Thelma Zwirner, and her son and current president, Richard Zwirner.
We operate one of the country’s oldest and largest animal shelters, offering refuge and rehabilitation, finding warm and loving adoptive homes for thousands of stray and abandoned dogs and cats every year. We hope that once you get to know us, you’ll want to become a supporter by adopting from us, spreading the word about us, or helping in other ways.

We are a team of individuals, mainly made up of veterinary technicians that are dedicated in helping young orphaned baby animals. We work together with several wonderful Hospitals, and Veterinarians in the area, that provide us with excellent help, care and support. . Our doctors specialties include: General Practice , Emergency Practice, and a Board Certified Surgeon. We are trying to provide quality of life to Orphans that would normally be abandoned and left for death or euthinized Due to lake to time, space and effort. We NOW rescue all types of animals from livestock to rodents, we do our best to raise them in to healthy well adjusted animals, then place them is loving homes. For all dogs and cats each animal is spayed and neuter before placed in a forever loving home. We also offer public education in the event that an owner has encountered a problem; which has left an orphan(s) baby(ies) to care for. There are many reasons that babies become orphaned and there is nothing that anyone can do to prevent it, but we would like to offer help and support if this should happen. About 70% of all orphans are normally given a poor prognosis, we try to look beyond that give each baby a chance at life.
