Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS)Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS) is an all-volunteer non-profit humane society devoted to the prevention of animal suffering. CAAWS has been serving the people and animals of Baton Rouge since 1979 by placing cats and dogs in loving homes and educating the public about responsible pet ownership. CAAWS is not a shelter, but an adoption agency, which places animals in foster homes until they are adopted. In this way we try to prepare the animals for the experience of living in a home environment. We are a no-kill humane society.
