Founded in the 1890's and incorporated in 1905, the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) is an independent, autonomous society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. We are one of the largest animal shelters in Texas -housing 400 to 500 animals each day. Over the past two years alone we cared for over 60,000 animals!
Our Mission
To act as an advocate on behalf of all animals and to ensure their legal, moral, and ethical consideration and protection.
To provide for the well-being of animals who are abandoned, injured, mistreated, or otherwise in need.
To promote an appreciation of animals, and to instill respect for all living things.

Shannon visits care homes frequently with “therapy animals to brighten the day of handicapped and elderly people.
Shannon talks at assemblies at many local schools, discussing animal care, the importance of spay and neuter, and how to approach strange dogs.
During the school year, we provide tours of our rescue to hundreds of local school children.
Miranda’s Rescue provides many opportunities for community members to volunteers. There are now over 40 active volunteers who do everything from cleaning cat boxes and walking dogs to answering phones and writing newsletter articles. The rescue could not function without all these wonderful volunteers

The Lily Sanctuary was founded in 2003 to honor Lily, a cockatoo, on her 13th birthday. Lily was diagnosed with the avian version of AIDS when she was little and told many times she should be put down. She beat those odds and became the miracle girl. This inspired the creation of The Lily Sanctuary to provide care and help to birds in need.

BREW Midwest rescues beagles from Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Southeastern Wisconsin. We receive pleas on a daily basis from shelters, animals control officers, vet offices and the general public throughout the states we cover asking for assistance in placing beagles in need. Most of the time, the request for assistance is the dogs last chance…and if we can’t help because of our lack of foster homes, the beagle usually find his/her life on the line. Unfortunately, we NEVER have enough foster homes
