Southern Animal FoundationSouthern Animal Foundation is a no-kill, 501(c)3 non profit, animal rescue, shelter, and adoption agency established in 1995 and is located in New Orleans, LA. Our purpose is to rescue companion animals abandoned to the city streets who face no other alternative, but a slow, painful death due to heartworms, other diseases, and eventual euthanasia by animal control facilities. We also provide animals with veterinary care including spay/neuter, and foster care homes until the pets are adopted into permanent homes. SAF rescues animals who are in need, due to abandonment, abuse, or medical emergency. We are a no-kill shelter that does not euthanize animals due to lack of space or time. Stop The SufferingSTS rescues animals from high kill rural shelters on the euthanasia list. In special circumstances we take owner surrenders. We transport dogs & cats to other approved 501c3 rescues and take some into our adoption program. In our adoption program they spend time in boarding awaiting a foster home. They are completely vetted including spayed or neutered, heartworm checked and started on prevention and are given all vaccinations including rabies.
