The Animal Welfare Society of Bandera County, Texas rescues animals from the local animal control, Boerne Animal Control, and from the public. We are dedicated to helping stray and abandoned animals and reducing the unwanted pet population through early spay/neuter. Our mission is to provide temporary shelter for abandoned animals and educate the public regarding animal welfare and cruelty issues. The need is so great throughout San Antonio and the outlying areas that AWS has expanded to include Kendall & Bexar counties in rescues. Due to lack of space and foster parents, all owner surrenders are on "space available" only.

City of Lancaster Animal Shelter is a small shelter that collects strays, and takes in animals surrendered by their owners. We always have a number of small and large dogs that need to be adopted. Fees are minimal, but all animals are required to be spayed/neutered at your expense. Donations of food, leashes, carriers are always welcome at the shelter.

LAPS is dedicated to saving as many breeds, mixes, and species of animals that are fit for adoption as our facilities can support in a healthy and sanitary environment. Although we would like to be able to save every animal that comes here, unfortunately, the pet overpopulation is too high in Laredo and we do not have the money to treat sick animals. The sad consequence is that each animal has a limited amount of time at our shelter to be adopted--so bring a new friend into your home today!

Second Chance Pets is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization. We do not have a shelter; instead, all our animals are kept in foster homes until they are adopted. All the animals in the program are checked and, if necessary, treated by a veterinarian, receive all necessary shots, and are spayed or neutered.

Recycled Canines Dalmatian Rescue is officially an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are dedicated to saving the lives of the many homeless Dalmatians around Houston, Texas. However, we usually have a few canines without spots as well. Our mission is to take dogs from shelters, as strays, or from owners that can no longer care for them and provide them with indoor shelter, high quality food, water, microchipping, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, training, exercise, socialization, and lots of TLC. Once we deem the dog ready for a new home, we seek permanent homes for them with people that have filled out an application and have been screened for eligibility
