The Nashville Humane Association is one of the oldest service organizations in Nashville. The roots of NHA can be traced back to a society founded in 1887 to protect children form inhumane working conditions and draft horses from mistreatment. This non-profit organization was incorporated in 1946 to protect the well being of animals in Davidson County. The Nashville Humane Association is committed to: promoting humane treatment of animals, finding good homes for stray or abandoned dogs and cats, educating the public about their responsibility to help control the pet population, and providing treatment and care to ensure the well being of animals in our community.

GrandDogs is a small private rescue and adoption organization located on ten beautiful acres in New Hope, TN. Donations are always appreciated to help offset the cost of rescue and rehabilitation, or to supply needed materials such as high quality food, bedding, toys, leashes, holistic medicines and crates. We use non-toxic flea and tick control . All animals are treated as personal pets while waiting for adoption to their forever home. Most of the animals have come from less than ideal situations. Most of our dogs are natural dogs, that is, their genes have not been manipulated by humans (however we will not fail to rescue a purebred dog). Natural dogs have what is called hybrid vigor, that is they tend not to have the inherited defects of their purebred ancestors. We believe, LOVE NEEDS NO PEDIGREE

We are Oak Ridge Animal Shelter and Animal Control. We service the city of Oak Ridge with contracts with Anderson County,City of Clinton, and Oliver Springs to house their animals. We also receive animals from surrounding counties. When animals are refused from the counties with animal shelters, we gladly take them in. We will not turn animals away. We have three full time Animal Control Officers and a full time Veterinarian on site. Our goal is to increase adoptions, promote education, and help control the animal population by spaying and neutering each pet before it is released to the adopted family.
