Maqwa's Paw Print Husky Rescue was founded on behalf of Maqwa. Maqwa is a Sioux word that means bear and bears are known for being able to find hidden roots for medicinal use. Maqwa was wonderful at this. Maqwa was a full blooded Siberian Husky that came to me as a rescue in need of a home. He was extremely intelligent and a great team motivator as he ran in the lead of a team of sled dogs. When the team was tired and wanted to stop HE was the one who could motivate them to keep going a little further. In June 2004 Maqwa suddenly and unexplainably walked across the rainbow bridge. We cried for 3 days and did nothing else. But because of his leadership ability we decided that a shelter or rescued dog was NOT one that we would ever overlook again when we were looking for a team member or as a pet and thus we began taking in Huskies from the shelters to save them from walking the rainbow bridge and instead help them to find forever families. Maqwa forever left his paw print on our hearts and thus the name Maqwa's Paw Print Husky Rescue.

The Noah Program is a 501c-3 non-profit organization that began at Ark Animal Hospital in 1994. Our mission is to provide medical care and treatment to critically injured stray animals and wildlife of our area. Once treated, domestic animals are then put up for adoption and wildlife are released back into the wild. Some of our domestic animals need special homes because they may not have a leg or eye, need daily medications, have a limp, a skin condition or have chronically treated problems. They need exceptional care and love. Their ages range from newborn on up to adult. If you or a friend would be interested in adopting one of these special pets, please contact Ark Animal Hospital at 843-238-1414. An adoption form will be completed before taking ownership. Adopted pets are spayed or neutered before placing if they are old enough. If not then, it will be done at a discounted rate. All cats are tested for leukemia and feline aids and the dogs are tested for heartworms. They are also up to date on vaccines and started on heartworm prevention. There is an ADOPTION DONATION, which helps the NOAH PROGRAM. All cats are adopted to indoor homes only, unless otherwise specified.

Welcome to Noble Shepherd Rescue, Inc.! We are an organization dedicated to rescuing German Shepherd Dogs in need in South and North Carolina. We are an approved non-profit corporation with the state of South Carolina and have our 501(c)(3) status from the IRS. There is no public shelter to visit. Instead, our companion animals are lovingly cared for in one of our approved foster homes where they can more readily adjust to a family/home environment.
It is our goal to place as many as we can in forever homes with people that appreciate the nobility and undying loyalty that is characteristic to the breed. You will never find a better friend, or a more dedicated companion.
All of our dogs are vet-checked upon rescue, spayed or neutered, brought up to date on all vaccinations and tested for heartworms. They are also temperament tested, checked for food aggression, compatibility with other dogs as well as children, and socialized before being placed on our adoption list.
German Shepherds are not for everyone. They are a unique breed. Highly intelligent dogs, they love to learn, and need exercise. They do very well with obedience and command training, and most enjoy it thoroughly. They do, however, tend to have more dominant personalities than some breeds and can be stubborn. It is important to be a step ahead of them at all times, as a GSD with an Alpha personality can be a handful.
