We are a no-kill, non-profit 501c3 organization where policy and decision are set by a Board of Directors and membership. We are dedicated to ending the suffering and killing of homeless, unwanted, neglected and/or abused companion animals. We are working on this through programs designed to (1) place homeless companion animals in responsible, permanent, and loving, homes (2) address the pet overpopulation problem through education and Trap/Neuter/Return Programs and (3) by enriching the human-animal bond.

Sirius Stars Canine Rescue is a small not-for-profit dog rescue operated by an extended animal-loving family living in York and Adams Counties, Pennsylvania. We do not operate a shelter, but rather, all of our dogs are fostered at private homes. Our mission is to find the best and final home for unwanted and neglected dogs rescued primarily from high kill animal control facilities. We love dogs, and we are searching for other dog lovers who will open their hearts and homes to these, the neediest of God's creatures.

In the early fifties, there was no Strayhaven Animal Shelter. There was only a group of caring people, who rescued strays, keeping them in their homes until these pitiful dogs and cats were found loving homes. In 1960, this dedicated group decided it was impractical and impossible to keep all the animals in their homes, and Strayhaven Animal Shelter was built and Incorporated.
A retired gentleman by the name of Perry Dehart, donated the land and his time to build the shelter. With help from concerned citizens and some government loans, the shelter was completed. From the beginning, the shelter was, and still is, privately run. It is the only for stray dogs and cats, to shelter, inoculate, de-worm, and find good homes. Strayhaven is unique in that it keeps its strays longer than most shelters.
