We are a national network of independent rescuers who work together to rescue abandoned, abused, and unwanted dachshunds. We provide medical and behavioral care for them, place them in loving homes, and work out transports to get them to their new families. AHDRS is a nonprofit organization, so all contributions are tax-deductible.

ALAC Rescue is the officially sponsored rescue organization of the American Lhasa Apso Club. Our headquarters is in Gaithersburg, MD, but we have a nationwide network of volunteers who foster Lhasa Apsos waiting for adoption.
We try hard to find permanent homes for all Lhasas in need, and we are very fortunate to have within our volunteer base many people who can assist our adoptive homes with their dog's transition to a new life. These volunteers have lived with and loved Lhasas for years and are well versed in Lhasa Apso behavior, as well as dog behavior in general.
Our adoption process is designed to carefully match a dog to fit in with the lifestyle/environment of the adoptive home. This can take some time, but we are very proud of the success we have had. If you are anxious to get the perfect dog tomorrow, rescue may not be your best avenue. However, it does happen quite fast sometimes. That is the nature of rescue.

American Pit Bull Terrier Rescue and Referral operates with certain specific goals in mind:
*To responsibly rescue and rehome adoptable American Pit Bull Terriers who are in need. Only American Pit Bull Terriers with outstanding and stable temperaments are accepted into our program. We at APBTRR firmly believe that the breed as a whole is more important than any individual dog.
*To operate a referral service and maintain a website to assist shelters, other rescues and individuals who have an American Pit Bull Terrier in need.
*To educate the general public as well as Pit Bull owners on the breed to encourage responsible ownership. To counsel owners and potential owners on what to expect of a American Pit Bull Terrier and how to responsibly own the breed.

The Animal Awareness Society (TAAS) is dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted and feral cats in the area through spaying and neutering. We go door to door speaking to people and passing out fliers in an attempt to educate the citizens of the Triad about local animal laws, animal care, the benefits of spaying and neutering and the problems that arise from not spaying and neutering.
The main goal of the Society is to greatly reduce the number of unwanted cats, find homes for adoptable cats, and find caretakers for feral colonies after they have been spayed or neutered. TAAS plans to accomplish this goal by targeting heavy cat populated areas and concentrating our education efforts there.
