ARF is a small group of concerned individuals that provide care and housing for abandoned or unwanted animals in Lafayette Parish and the surrounding area. Space in our shelter facility is limited. We work to rescue abandoned and unwanted animals, obtaining necessary veterinary care and placing them in loving, responsible homes. We DO NOT euthanize adoptable animals. Over the last few years we have placed more than 300 dogs and cats into loving homes.
All animals in our care are current on vaccinations. Dogs are screened for heartworm disease and put on heartworm preventative. Cats are tested (and inoculated against) Feline Leukemia.
Most animals we place are already neutered. If the animal is too young for the procedure we will arrange with the new owners to pay for all or a part of the operation. Also, low-income families (under $30,000) qualify for a discount spay/neuter certificate from Lafayette area vets. ALL ANIMALS WE PLACE MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
We are recognized by the IRS as a non-profit organization, so any donation you make to help our cause is tax deductible.

We are an euthanizing shelter due to over population in our parish (county) and are governed by the City-Parish Police Department. Our official name is the Roicy Duhon Animal Control Center, named after a dedicated worker, friend, coach, and community member who passed away. We receive many animals in our shelter each day. From lost and found pets to strays and pregnant moms, we accept any and all animals who need a home. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, we are not able to house all the animals that pass through our doors. Each day, some of the animals are available on a first-come, first serve basis during the hours we are open. Sorry, but we DO NOT offer Pit Bull or Chow dogs for adoption to the general public. While many of the animals turned in to the center do not have history or health records, they deserve a second chance. We cannot guarantee a pet's health, nor provide any medical information such as previous vaccinations or problems, however, we recommend that any animals that you adopt receive a general health check by a veterinarian within a 72 hour period. If the animal has medical problems, we will accept the animal back at the center and refund the adoption fee

Animal Rescue Resource Center is a non-profit way station for rescued cats and dogs awaiting adoption into loving and responsible homes. We rarely accept animals from the public, preferring to keep our limited spaces available to other rescue groups who are saving as many as they are able to from the pound and need a short term holding kennel until they can arrange transport. A pre-adoption phone interview at your first call will determine if we have a suitable animal for your family. If so, we will give you directions to the ARRC.

How We Operate:
Our group is made up of Lake Area residents who by working together to raise funds have committed to helping homeless dogs receive a second chance at finding a home. We operate by holding fundraisers and receiving donations any donations are gratefully appreciated and tax deductable. We are not part of any publicly run facility so we do not receive funds except those that we are able to raise.. Your donations are used to rescue animals, provide vaccinations, heartworm treatments, heartworm preventative, spay/neuter, buy dog food and much, much more!! None of our group receives compensation for the work that we do. Please help us rescue those dogs in the Lake Area in need of help. We can not continue to do what we do without the public being supportive of us.
We do not have a phsyical shelter to house our animals. All of our animals are housed in our own homes. We currently do not have the space for any more fosters at this time. Please do not contact us if you are attempting to get rid of an unwanted pet. We get our fosters from the public shelters before they are put to death.

All Creature's Rescue is a non-profit, all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless, abandoned and abused pets in the SW Louisiana area. We are a volunteer only group that operates through the loving care of our foster homes. We do not have a shelter to house our rescued friends, therefore we can only help those that we can place into the hands of our Foster Parents. All of our rescues are placed into the most secure and loving homes, nothing else will do! We specialize in the placements of our canine and feline friends but we will also assist in finding loving homes for Birds, Small Animals, and even Horses.

The adoption fees at the St. John Parish Animal Shelter are $75.00. The fees pay for Spay/Neuter, rabies and basic vaccinations, Heartworm check and micro-chipping. The vaccinations and spay/neuter are required by the state prior to the release of any animal from a shelter. The micro-chipping will make sure the owner is in compliance with state law for identification required on an animal. Tags and tattoos also bring the animal in compliance, but tags can be lost, removed or stolen and tattoos have higher health risks. Note that micro-chipping does not remove the requirement that rabies tags be attached to a collar on the animal.
The Shelter is now offering micro-chipping to the public for a charge of $15, which includes registration. The micro-chipping will be available at the shelter between the hours of 1 P.M. and 3 P.M. Tuesday through Saturday, with the exception of holidays.
STATE LAW RS 3:2472 STERILIZATION REQUIRED A Provision providing for the sterilization of all dogs and cats released for adoption or purchased from any public or private animal shelter or animal control agency operated by a humane society, parish city or other political division by providing sterilization by a licensed veterinarian before relinquishing custody of the animal.
