The ACL's mission is...
Protecting animals from improper use, abuse, neglect, inhumane treatment and health hazards.
Educating the public about responsible pet ownership.
Sheltering lost, abandoned and unwanted animals.
Preventing the birth of unwanted animals.
Reuniting lost pets and their families.
Adopting animals into loving and responsible homes.
Lovingly caring for the pets that reside in our animal shelter.
This mission is accomplished through the dedication and energy of our small shelter staff, board of directors, and legion of faithful volunteers. The Animal Care League accepts dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens, which we care for until we find responsible new owners. These animals have either been surrendered by their owners who can no longer keep them or have been transferred from other animal control facilities. Our ability to accept animals is limited to the space we have available. We euthanize animals only in cases of irremediable health problems or other grave circumstances. We have had an early spay/neuter program in place since 1994; this allows us to spay or neuter each animal we offer for adoption, one of our contributions to ending the horrible cycle of pet overpopulation.
We rely entirely on membership dues, donations, and proceeds from our fundraising projects to finance our mission

Animal Education and Rescue, NFP
is an Illinois not for profit organization. We are a 501 (c) 3 organization. 3. The purpose of the foundation is to help countless numbers of animals and people.
1. We speak to schools, civic organizations, and clubs about responsible pet ownership. This will include the reasons for spaying and neutering, general care, and the do's and don'ts of owning a pet. We teach pet owners about how animals communicate with each other and with humans. We have designed special programs to introduce animals to children through animal body language sessions and pet education.
2. We provide pet therapy programs. Volunteers and their pets will visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools for the disabled and hospitals. (Studies have proven that overall mental and physical health of humans is improved when they are exposed to animals.)
3. We are a resource for other animal related non-profit groups. During our public speaking and through our office we will provide a list of animal shelters, foster care foundations and other animal related organizations.
4. We assist people in placing abandoned, abused and surrendered pets of all kinds.

Animal Heartline was founded by a small group of animal lovers who were individually helping stray and abandoned animals. Becoming chartered in 1979 as a humane society and officially recognized as a not-for-profit group enabled us to care for more animals. We are a no-kill organization staffed entirely by volunteers who are dedicated to finding homes for stray and unwanted pets. We obtain medical treatment for these pets and provide them with food and shelter until permanent, loving homes are found.
