Feisty Acres, Inc.Feisty Acres is a nonprofit no-kill animal rescue organization serving Marion, Alachua, Citrus and Levy counties in North Central Florida. We receive no government funding; we are supported exclusively by donations. The animals you will see here have come from a variety of situations: Some were strays for whom an owner could not be found. Some were purposely abandoned. Some were brought to us by owners who could no longer keep them or no longer wanted them. Some were referred to us by local veterinarians. Some came from other shelters where they would have been euthanized. Mid Florida Sheltie RescueSave a Sheltie The goal of Sheltie Rescue of Central Fl is to help Shetland Sheepdogs who turn up in shelters, are found lost on the street, are no longer wanted by their owners, or whose owners can no longer care for them. We seek to prevent the euthanasia of any Shelties. To avoid this, we place Shelties found in shelters or elsewhere into foster homes where they are cared for as a member of the family. They are then more likely to be successful when the right adopting family is found, because they are accustomed to a home environment rather than a kennel environment. We also diligently search for possible owners of lost Shelties, while our foster Sheltie lives in one of our foster homes.
