Homeless dogs come to us from shelters, as strays or by owner-surrender. Once they are in our care, our all-volunteer group works hard to ensure the dogs' physical and emotional needs are met through home-based fostering. During foster care, we evaluate the temperament and activity level of each dog. All the while, we seek that perfect match in a permanent home -- one that best meets the dog's particular needs and most appreciates his/her individual personality.

Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue exists to save the lives of dogs of all sizes (and even some cats!). Founded in 1998, our mission is to place dogs in permanent adoptive homes where they will receive the love and care that they deserve for the balance of their lives. An integral part of our mission is to emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering all pets; none of our animals is released to an adopter until it has been sterilized.

We have several wonderful dogs up for adoption, and more coming in all of the time. This is somewhat sad, because the neverending supply of rescue dogs is due the overpopulation of pets that has come about from pet owners who do not spay/neuter thier pets.
