The Plainfield Animal Control Shelter is a municipal dog pound. On an average, we process approximately three hundred animals per year. Our average adoption rate is 85%. Dogs are the primary animal that we house. The animal control unit is responsible for enforcing all Connecticut animal control laws. The Animal Control Officer visits the elementary and middle schools twice yearly speaking on a variety of topics. The unit also participates in the annual pet show co-sponsored by the recreation department and the national adopt-a-thon sponsored by the North Shore Animal League. We offer yearly rabies clinics sponsored by the Connecticut Municipal Animal Control Officer's Association. Our primary goals are to educate the public, find loving homes for the animals that find their way to our shelter, and to maintain a clean and healthy environment at the shelter.

Flora's Pet Project is a 501(c)(3) charity, run entirely by volunteers and devoted to animal welfare. We are a foster home-based operation, and each pet offered for adoption through Flora's Pet Project, including every kitten and every puppy, has been neutered, vaccinated and tested for heartworm (dogs) or feline leukemia/AIDS (cats) prior to adoption. We also perform any medical procedures and provide any medications which the pet might require--everything from amputations to zithromax. These vet services are funded by tax-deductible donations to Flora's Pet Project

The Naugatuck Animal Shelter is a municipal animal control facility. As much as we can, we provide the basics of care for the animals, but what they really need is a loving stable home environment to truly be happy. All pets must be family members-kept indoors as part of the family.
