Homeward Bound Pet Rescue & Referral, Inc. has grown into an Alaska non-profit and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which educates the public, saves some dogs that are in danger of being killed at the shelter, takes many private owner releases, and above all, makes a great effort to match these thrown away or displaced dogs in homes where they will be properly cared for and loved for the rest of their days.

Dogs and Cats are killed in shelters every day because someone didn't neuter their pets. No matter how many shelters we build, we will never decrease the number of homeless animals until we decrease the number of unwanted litters being born. The Kayleigh's Haven spay/neuter fund will be used to subsidize spays and neuters for people who otherwise couldnt afford to sterilize their pets.

We are pleased and excited to announce that we have obtained our 501 3(C) non-profit status. Our special focus will be to help provide pet placement services to local senior citizens to ensure their pets find loving homes if placement is required, or to provide temporary, discounted boarding services. The majority of pets in rescue are fostered in our homes and there are three of us. Cindy and Sue primarily do the cat/kitten part in their homes and Carol, with the help of her husband, Bruce, the dog/puppy part, though we have been known to do both, and last, Corin who does the other, which usually includes hamsters, ferrets, quinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils, chinchillas etc
