2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary is a 65 acre sanctuary for animals of all species. It is the life long dream of its founders and was fashioned after the Best Friend's Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. At 2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary, we believe we CAN make a difference in the lives of hundreds of homeless, abused and neglected animals - One animal at a time. Our policy is a true "no kill", no euthanization. The animals we host at 2nd Chance Animal Sanctuary are free to stay as long as they need to, until you provide their "forever home".

Space, time, energy, resources and consideration for "the greater good" make it necessary for Fairy Dogmother to limit FDM dogs to mostly small house and lap dogs. Most FDM dogs were homeless, hungry, sometimes injured or sick strays brought to FDM by good samitarians unwilling to risk almost certain euthanasia by taking them to the local shelter, which is a scary miserable place for any dog.

We offer a lifetime commitment to our Pekingese, and try to find great forever homes for these little castaways. One person's castaway is another person's treasure and we have proved that alot lately. We rescue from kill shelters and only if the pekingese is on time limitations and going to be put down or gassed to death. We are desperate for fosters and volunteers.

Inspiration behind the original founding of Rescue Hope came from my awakening, as a practicing veterinarian in Birmingham, to the fact that the numbers of homeless, unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned animals are at epidemic proportions in our area, across this state, indeed across the nation. While so many of our citizens and organizations have selflessly given their hearts, their homes, their time and their money to put tremendous efforts into reducing and maybe someday eliminating these numbers, the situation remains at a critical level.
