ARF is a small group of concerned individuals that provide care and housing for abandoned or unwanted animals in Lafayette Parish and the surrounding area. Space in our shelter facility is limited. We work to rescue abandoned and unwanted animals, obtaining necessary veterinary care and placing them in loving, responsible homes. We DO NOT euthanize adoptable animals. Over the last few years we have placed more than 300 dogs and cats into loving homes.
All animals in our care are current on vaccinations. Dogs are screened for heartworm disease and put on heartworm preventative. Cats are tested (and inoculated against) Feline Leukemia.
Most animals we place are already neutered. If the animal is too young for the procedure we will arrange with the new owners to pay for all or a part of the operation. Also, low-income families (under $30,000) qualify for a discount spay/neuter certificate from Lafayette area vets. ALL ANIMALS WE PLACE MUST BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED.
We are recognized by the IRS as a non-profit organization, so any donation you make to help our cause is tax deductible.

We are an euthanizing shelter due to over population in our parish (county) and are governed by the City-Parish Police Department. Our official name is the Roicy Duhon Animal Control Center, named after a dedicated worker, friend, coach, and community member who passed away. We receive many animals in our shelter each day. From lost and found pets to strays and pregnant moms, we accept any and all animals who need a home. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, we are not able to house all the animals that pass through our doors. Each day, some of the animals are available on a first-come, first serve basis during the hours we are open. Sorry, but we DO NOT offer Pit Bull or Chow dogs for adoption to the general public. While many of the animals turned in to the center do not have history or health records, they deserve a second chance. We cannot guarantee a pet's health, nor provide any medical information such as previous vaccinations or problems, however, we recommend that any animals that you adopt receive a general health check by a veterinarian within a 72 hour period. If the animal has medical problems, we will accept the animal back at the center and refund the adoption fee

Animal Rescue Resource Center is a non-profit way station for rescued cats and dogs awaiting adoption into loving and responsible homes. We rarely accept animals from the public, preferring to keep our limited spaces available to other rescue groups who are saving as many as they are able to from the pound and need a short term holding kennel until they can arrange transport. A pre-adoption phone interview at your first call will determine if we have a suitable animal for your family. If so, we will give you directions to the ARRC.

The St. Martin Humane Society was founded in April 1999 by a group of concerned citizens. The Society obtained a 501 (c3) tax exemption status in June 2000 and relies on community support and fund raising to fulfill its mission. We have pets for adoption from different sources (strays, owner released...) and we rely solely on foster homes for the animal in our care. We also work very hard to try to reduce the overpopulation of domestic animals in the area served by the Society through low cost and free spay-neuter programs. Because we neither have a facility nor employees, all the money we raised is used for the pets in our care and our spay/neuter program.

Our mission and goal is to save lives. Our organization investigates cases of animal abuse and neglect. Most of our animals come into our shelter through seizures or they are rescued from local pounds. We also remove stray animals living on the streets and try placing them in loving homes. Our organiztion is non-profit and we depend on donations and fundraisers to survive. Because my organization is small with few volunteers and no shelter we are limited on the amount of animals we can save. These animals are housed on my property and a few are in foster homes.

We are a very small group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to finding homes for neglected, abused and unwanted chihuahuas. We also will take in, on occassion, other small dogs. We do not have a "shelter" and the dogs are fostered in homes along with our families and our own fur children. All of our dogs are fully vetted. All dogs will be spayed or neutered. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!! Any medical conditions will have been cared for. We will try our best to adopt out healthy dogs, matching the "right" dog to the "right" family
