Calico Creek Critters RescueWe are a small group of home-based rescuers, doing our best to put an end to homeless and unwanted pets. While we started out on a mission to rescue Jack Russell and Boston Terriers, we have found it's very difficult to turn away others in need, and now rescue other small breeds as well.. The majority of our pets have come to us from pounds and shelters where they were in danger of being euthanised. We also rescue from puppy mills and back yard breeders. Our pooches are rescued from abandonment/abuse situations. Most of our dogs were rescued from our local area Pounds or High kill shelter. We are always willing to take in the Dogs that are in need of homes. We have several animals that have been surrendered to us by their Owners who could no longer care for them. We are getting more and more requests every day to take in animals. Southern Ohio Toy Breed RescueFormaly known as Barn Yard Rescue, originially opened to rescue unwanted, abused & abandoned small & medium size barn yard pets. We mainly worked with our local pound rescuing pups that would otherwise be put to sleep. It was rewarding to help so many, but the need for rescuing was unlimited & We had to come to terms that sadly we could not make a dent in the problem. The more we helped the less people were concerned about the spay & neuter issues of this county. Although it is hard not to be involved, like so many other rescues we have chose to become breed & size specific to limit our intake & not become overwhelmed. After aquiring a pomeranian & recently a yorkie, There is no question that they are one of my passions and I have decided to become a full pledged rescue for toy breeds. Our rescues are kept in homes with families and treated like our pets. We love all animals big & small and our prayers go out to the many because of time, space, money & mainly the pure neglect of owners to alter there pets will not have the chance at life.
