Animal Welfare League was founded in 1935 to stop the suffering of animals that seemed common place in Chicagoland. Our founding shelter, located at 6224 South Wabash Avenue in Chicago, still exists today as the only humane society on the south side of Chicago. Our Wabash shelter operates in an economically depressed area and provides valuable services to residents in the area such as shelter and care to homeless and needy animals, low cost clinic services to pet owners on a limited income and no-charge monthly pet food distribution.

In the year 1959, a small group of animal lovers joined together to help the homeless dogs and cats of Clark County, Ohio. Land was purchased, and a welfare farm was established. we feed and shelter approximately 175 animals. These animals are all spayed and neutered, and they have all their shots. While our goal is to adopt all the animals at our farm, a shortage of good homes results in a number of permanent residents at the farm

We are not a shelter. We have operated a shelter in the past and had to close the facility. All animals were placed in foster care pending placement in permanent homes.
We have members that actively rescue strays and you will find several of their rescues on our pet listing.
We assist those in need with emergency veterinary care for their animals as funding allows. We support spay/neuter efforts as they are absolutely essential to the long-term health of both sexes of our companion animals.

The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County was established in 1969 primarily because of the deplorable conditions existing at the Trumbull County Dog Pound. The Animal Shelter was established in August of 1984 when we purchased an old boarding kennel. Since then we have done extensive renovating. We are a non-profit humane organization and are a 501-C-3 charity. We exist solely because of our Members, Contributors, Fundraisers and of course our wonderful volunteers. We also established an Emergency Rescue Team in 1980 to respond to animal emergencies 24 hours a day seven days a week for all species of animals. We investigate over 400 animal abuse cases each year and prosecute those individuals who break the law.

The Animal Welfare Society of Bandera County, Texas rescues animals from the local animal control, Boerne Animal Control, and from the public. We are dedicated to helping stray and abandoned animals and reducing the unwanted pet population through early spay/neuter. Our mission is to provide temporary shelter for abandoned animals and educate the public regarding animal welfare and cruelty issues. The need is so great throughout San Antonio and the outlying areas that AWS has expanded to include Kendall & Bexar counties in rescues. Due to lack of space and foster parents, all owner surrenders are on "space available" only.
