Madison County Animal Shelter is located in the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Our address is 389 Long Branch Road, Marshall, NC 28753. Although we are a rural county of about 25,000 we have a variety of cats, dogs and sometimes exotic or farm animals for adoption. We are dedicated to finding permanet, loving homes for these homeless pets. We take all animals brought to us: strays, feral dogs, cats, and personal pets. We are county operated and have a staff of caring individuals that try to do their best for each and every animal. So, if you are looking for a pet we can help match you with the perfect friend who will fit your lifestyle. Our shelter hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10-5 and Saturday from 10:00 am til 3:00pm, and on Thursday from 10:00pm til 6:00pm.

The Madison County Humane Society, Inc., was formed August 1985. Since that time it has served companion animals and their owners in the area. The Madison County Humane Society is an independent, non-profit agency. We are not a division of any County or City and are not funded by any governmental entity or national animal welfare organization. We are a small, grassroots 501c3 corporation and are governed by a volunteer board of directors. Until July 1, 2002, the Humane Society operated the Madison County Shelter until the financial drain imposed by those activities became too restrictive on our other programs and the county was unwilling to adequately fund the shelter.

The Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter (MOAS) is not a typical shelter. It is not drab, depressing or institutional. It does not smell bad. It's intention is not to control animals, nor is it to shove as many animals as possible into a tiny, dark, stuffy cell. What it is, is a state of the art facility serving residents of Madison and Oglethorpe counties, Georgia. Residents with 2 legs and residents with four legs. Even residents with 3 legs. The main criteria is a fuzzy face, a cold, wet nose and a big heart
