The Humane Society of Harrison County is a separate entity from the Harrison County Animal Control Center, which is also located on Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV. Our mission is to rescue as many animals as possible left at the Animal Control Center and to get the animals ready for adoption into loving, forever homes. Our goal is to be able to save and house as many animals as possible before they are euthanized at the Animal Control Center.

Our Shelter facility cares for lost, stray, and injured animals, as well as for animals surrendered by their owners. Our full-service Veterinary Clinic provides medical and dental care, including low-cost spay/neuter services. Our Cruelty and Rescue service is available to rescue sick or injured stray animals 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for all of Washtenaw County.

Since 1905, the Humane Society of Indianapolis (HSI) has provided shelter and care to animals in need on their way to loving homes. Originally started to help both animals and families in need, the Humane Society eventually switched to focus solely on animal care. In its current location at 79th and Michigan Road since the 1960’s, HSI’s facility now spans over 32,000 square feet on 13.5 acres and cares for over 10,000 animals each year.

ARF (Jackson County Humane Society) is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation composed of a small group of volunteers who rescue animals from the shelter, the roads, and the community and keep them in their own homes. ARF has a no-kill policy, which means that volunteers foster the animals until someone adopts them, no matter how long it takes. Some animals have been fostered for more than thirteen years.
