Grateful Dogs Rescue: Grateful Dogs, a non-profit organization, was founded over 10 years ago by Michelle Parris, a former SF Animal Care & Control volunteer. She made it her mission to rescue "un-adoptable dogs," i.e. dogs not made available for adoption because they needed some medical help or some behavioral training. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these special-needs dogs until a loving home is found. We are an official 501(c)3 non-profit organization who provides temporary foster care for stray/abandoned cats and dogs. All animals receive appropriate medical care, including necessary vaccinations and sterilization. Many of the animals that come to us are injured, malnurished, or ill and in need of expensive medical care. All animals are treated regardless of price, and cared for in a loving foster home until healthy enough to be adopted. We feel that animals in foster homes do better when placed in new homes than animals coming right out of a shelter, because of the extra care and attention they get in a foster home. Our dogs get basic obedience training, potty training, and crate training to help with a smooth transition into a new home.
