SSCBC Rescue is a volunteer effort by dedicated individuals. The dogs in our rescue program appear as Shelties, most of whom were surrendered by owners who have had life changes that have forced them to give up the dogs. Very few of our dogs are from animal shelters.

We are a city-run, no-kill dog shelter with an active volunteer and fostering program. We spay/neuter all animals before they leave and always have an assortment of great dogs available for adoption. The volunteers often give the dogs blankets at night, so donations of snuggles and anything else that will make the dogs happy are always appreciated. Vancouver's municipally run shelter is a pro-adoption shelter. Dogs that are adoptable or treatable are not put down. The shelter makes every effort to keep dogs alive and find them homes.
