The Henry County Animal Control Department was established in its current facility in Cambridge, Illinois in 1978. It has a staff of two, the Animal Control Officer and an Office Assistant . This department enforces state and county ordinances pertaining to animal abuse, bites, rabies control, and handles the issuing of rabies tags and domestic animal registration for all of Henry County.
Over the years the Department has been a self-supporting program, costing no taxpayer dollars except for vehicles and a building expansion. The Animal Control Department also works closely with, and is currently a branch of, the Henry County Sheriff's Office. Animal Control also works with and assists local police departments, veterinarians, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

Heroes of Animals Foundation was started by Brook at age 11. She began by raising money to help people pay for spaying/neutering and injured animals. We're a non-profit, 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. In a year's time, we've joined efforts with The Save A Dog Foundation and together, we've started our sanctuary.

a private, non-profit humane society and animal shelter which exists to help protect animals from acts of cruelty or neglect. We strive to promote, motivate and enforce responsible companion animal guardianship, to promote humane care for animals by educating the public and by encouraging spaying and neutering to help curb the pet overpopulation crisis. The shelter provides a temporary home, care and rehabilitation to animals in need.
