Humane Society of Madison County Animal League for LifeWe are a non-profit, 501(c)(3), charitable organization devoted to the prevention of animal cruelty and the betterment of all animals in our community. Our Board of Directors meets monthly to insure these goals are met. All members are welcome to attend these meetings and we welcome newcomers. Our current programs are focused on reducing pet overpopulation (thereby saving lives), by promoting humane education in our school systems and encouraging spaying and neutering with our Spay/Neuter Discount Program. Richmond HeroRichmond Hero is a 501c 3 charitable organization that provides pet-related educational services and subsidizes low-cost spay/neuter operations for low-income families pets. Since its inception in 2002, Richmond Hero has provided hundreds of spay/neuter operations thus preventing the births of thousands of potentially homeless animals. Through our (804) 788-HERO telephone help line we answer over 200 calls a month and use the phone line to educate the public on issues pertaining to pet over-population in Virginia. Working with shelters across Virginia, Richmond Hero has helped to establish new adoption programs thus placing many abandoned pets in new loving homes.
