Second Chance Humane SocietySecond Chance Humane Society is a 501c3 non profit all volunteer organization created to help the many abandoned pets (primarily dogs and cats) in our area find shelter and new forever homes. Most of our animals have been found by good Samaritans who bring them to us, or from pet owners who need to surrender their pets for various reasons. Each animal in our care receives thorough vet examinations and any vet services needed to ensure good health. Each is also evaluated for temperament to help us determine the best possible home situation and if any behavior modification and/or training is needed prior to adoption. The majority of our funding is obtained through adoption fees and donations. Lakewood Animal Shelter / CCLAS - Citizens' Committee for a Lakewood Animal ShelterLakewood is the first city/suburb west of Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie. We are the only community northwest of Cleveland in our county who shelter our strays and try to find adoptable homes for them. All animals in the shelter come in off the streets of Lakewood, are abandoned, or taken in due to neglect. CCLAS is the support group for the shelter. We were founded over 20 years ago because Lakewood had no shelter - now we help fund the spay/neuter programs, supply volunteers to help the shelter wardens, supply foster homes as needed, and educate the public.
