The Kankakee County Animal Foundation is a Voluntary Not For Profit Organization which consists of a Board of Directors, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The KCAF is located in Kankakee County Illinois. The organization's focus is Fostering, Adoptions, Emphasizing Spay/Neuter and Responsible Pet Ownership Education. The organization's volunteer foster homes are important to the success of the adoption process. Local shelters are also part of this process. Local veterinarians are used to provide necessary animal wellness which includes all vacinations,lab tests, etc. As part of the KCAF's project, through donations, they provide the monetary resources to enable the local veterinarians to provide low cost spay/neuter. Additionally, our volunteers strive to educate the public about responsible pet ownership. They call upon friends, teachers, scout leaders, parents, etc., for help. Most of the reasons that animals end up in animal control are preventable by teaching children animal safety and pet care. Many of the problems of today can be decreased as these children grow up and become responsible pet owners. The Foundation has asked educators to add this information to their units on safety, biology, etc., urging scout leaders to encourage children to work toward badges related to these subjects. Parents need to set the good example by teaching their children safe, responsible pet care at home. KCAF provides information on related educational materials. KCAF is always looking for volunteers to assist in providing the necessary tasks to make the animals safe and healthy.

City=Mt. Prospect | FosterHomes |
We provide a safe refuge and a second chance for unclaimed animals from various municipal pounds and, space permitting, we accept other homeless, neglected or injured animals from their rescuers.
Adopt-A-Pet is a "shelter without walls" - we do not own a shelter facility. All of our animals are boarded at cooperating animal hospitals or in volunteer foster homes until they are adopted by their new families. Animals remain with us for as long as it takes to find them a suitable permanent new home.
Because we do not have a facility to warehouse unadoptable animals (based on age, health or temperament), Adopt-A-Pet is only able to take in adoptable pets. We strive to make sure that all of our animals will make suitable family pets.

Since opening on October 31, 1989, A.D.O.P.T. has found homes for over 12,000 pets. It takes a lot of hard work on the part of our generous volunteers to find homes for between fifteen and fifty kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs every week. We continue to spend our days working long hours because we love the animals and want to save them by finding a good home for as many of them as we can!
While ADOPT has, on occasion, adopted dogs to homes out of state, we DO NOT ship animals. In the past, prospective adopters from surrounding states have driven here to meet our dogs and cats, and to search for a potential friend.
Our volunteers work very hard to make the best possible match between your home and lifestyle and our dogs and cats. An important part of this process is meeting you and having you meet with the animals. We have a safe fenced area where family members can interact with potential adoptees, and where our knowledgeable volunteers will help answer your questions.

Animal Heartline was founded by a small group of animal lovers who were individually helping stray and abandoned animals. Becoming chartered in 1979 as a humane society and officially recognized as a not-for-profit group enabled us to care for more animals. We are a no-kill organization staffed entirely by volunteers who are dedicated to finding homes for stray and unwanted pets. We obtain medical treatment for these pets and provide them with food and shelter until permanent, loving homes are found.

We are very excited to announce that donations are now tax deductable!!!!
We are a private rescue organizion. We do not receive any funding so adoption fees and donations are a critical part of keeping our adoption program active. The majority of our adoptable animals are puppies/dogs that have ran out of time at other shelters, abandoned litters of puppies, puppy mill rescues and surrendered animals. We also rescue horses/ponies from abusive homes, seizure by local officials and auctions. These horses are given proper health care and given both the physical and mental rehabilitation needed in order for them to be adoptable .
