Sheltering Hands Inc.Sheltering Hands, Inc. is an organization for pet rescue and placements in the Marion & Levy County Florida area. Many of the cats currently in our care are from rescue situations and are now in a volunteer foster network. We currently do not have a shelter building but house all of our cats in the foster network. Although we try to assist with placement of some dogs through networking with canine groups, we do not have housing facilities or foster homes currently available for dogs. Street Cat SanctuaryThe Street Cat Sanctuary, Inc. has been doing rescue in our community for more than nine years. The organization was started by Debbie after she started feeding homeless cats living on the streets at fast food restaurants. Every night Debbie went out on the streets to feed these homeless cats in rain or cold. Many wonderful and the most beautiful cats adopted have come from this very situation. The cats have not asked to be dumped by an owner who no longer wanted the burden of owning a pet nor to born into that type of life; its not their fault. So she started Street Cat Sanctuary, Inc. When a little puppy came along and no one would even take him for free the cat rescue went to the dogs. The little ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan known as Murphy and became Debbie's first dog in 27 years. Adopt A StrayAdopt A Stray is an all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) no kill animal rescue organization located in South Florida, founded by a small group of experienced volunteers. Since we do not yet have a shelter we operate as a foster care program, working to deal with the stray overpopulation by taking unwanted and unloved dogs and cats off the streets.
